Why We Loved Our Spring Mini Session with This Talented Minnesota Family Photographer

Keighla Anderson April 25, 2025

Today on the blog, we’re excited to share a special guest post from a young adult client, Isabele, who recently experienced one of our spring mini sessions with Keighla's Fresh Face Photography. With a fresh perspective and heartfelt storytelling, she shares what it was like to be part of this bunny-filled family photo day, capturing unforgettable moments with loved ones (and a few fluffy friends). Read on for her full story and behind-the-scenes look at this joyful day.

Our Spring Mini Session: A Sweet, Bunny-Filled Family Day to Remember

Hey hey! Just popping in to share the cutest little moment from this past weekend — our spring mini session with Keighla from Fresh Face Photography, a super talented Minnesota family photographer. It was one of those rare days where everything just kind of worked. No chaos. No stress. Just lots of laughs, cute kids, and even cuter bunnies.

The session was in this old warehouse building in Minneapolis. Total hidden gem. We had to hike up to the third floor (no elevator, RIP my legs), but when we walked into the studio, it felt like stepping into a little spring dream. The light was perfect, the space was full of charm, and everything just felt good.

Keighla had styled the whole space for her spring mini sessions, and it was so on point. There were two different setups, both super soft and fresh with pastel colors, florals, and cozy textures that made it feel like a Pinterest board come to life. You could tell she had a vision, and it was giving spring energy in the best way.

And yes. There were bunnies. Real, fluffy, ridiculous little bunnies. We brought three with us, and they instantly became the stars of the show. Every kid was obsessed. Every adult was lowkey obsessed too. It made the whole family photo shoot feel way more fun and way less stiff.

We brought the whole crew — my parents, my siblings, the nieces and nephews, and of course the bunnies. It turned into a full-on Minnesota extended family photo session, and somehow it didn’t feel chaotic at all. I got to take a few sweet shots with my parents, some with the littles, and it just felt like we were capturing moments instead of trying to stage them.

Keighla kept everything flowing. She was so organized, had everything ready to go, and somehow managed to get amazing photos while wrangling kids and bunnies. If you’ve ever done a family photo session before, you know that’s no small thing. She made the whole thing feel effortless, and honestly, I don’t know how she does it — but I’m really glad she does.

By the time we wrapped up, I felt so happy and full. Not just because we got great pictures (which we totally did), but because it felt like we made an actual memory. It was cozy and fun and just really special.

So yeah. If you’re in the Twin Cities and thinking about booking a spring mini or even a full family photo shoot, I 100% recommend Fresh Face Photography. Keighla knows how to bring the vibes, keep things easy, and make the magic happen.

Our whole crew came—my parents, my siblings, nieces, and nephews, and yes, the bunnies too. Each family got photos of their kids in the spring setup with the bunnies, which made for some adorable shots. I had pictures taken with my parents, and then a few with my nieces and nephews, and it felt special to have those moments captured. It was the perfect setup for Minnesota extended family photos, and having everyone together made it even more memorable.

What I loved most was how easy everything felt. Usually, photo days can feel a bit stressful with all the planning, but this was different. Keighla had everything ready to go when we got there. All we had to do was show up, and she took care of the rest. She somehow kept things moving on time, made everyone feel relaxed, and captured the sweetest moments—all while juggling small kids and animals. I honestly don’t know how she does it, but I’m so glad she does.

I walked away from the session feeling happy and grateful. It’s not every day you get that kind of mix of beautiful Minneapolis family photos, a fun family memory, and a smooth, no-stress experience. If you ever get the chance to do a Twin Cities mini session like this, I definitely recommend it.

Winter wonderland: Minnesota weddings in the snow

Keighla Anderson April 22, 2025

Winter Weddings in Minnesota: A Snowy Wonderland Through My Lens

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels like a real-life snow globe, let me tell you—you’re not alone. As a Minnesota wedding photographer who had my own beautiful, snowy winter wedding, I completely understand the magic that comes with saying “I do” in a winter wonderland.

There’s something so enchanting about soft snowflakes falling, cozy warm vibes, and that peaceful stillness you only find in the colder months. And yes, it makes for some seriously dreamy photos.

Whether you're planning a Minneapolis wedding in the heart of the city or an intimate celebration in the quiet countryside, winter offers a one-of-a-kind backdrop. And if you’re scrolling for a “wedding photographer near me” who gets the beauty (and the logistics!) of a snowy day, you’ve found the right gal.

Why We Love Winter Weddings in Minnesota

Winter weddings bring an extra layer of romance. The snow-covered trees, glowing candles, and twinkle lights everywhere? It’s pure magic. As a Twin Cities wedding photographer, I’ve captured countless winter ceremonies that felt straight out of a fairytale.

And I know firsthand how stunning those snow-dusted portraits turn out because I’ve been the one in the dress, giggling with frozen fingers and a full heart.

Winter’s soft light and sparkling landscapes create a fresh, clean canvas that makes your love—and your style—shine. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want an excuse to rock a dramatic cape, faux fur shawl, or chic snow boots on their wedding day?

Outdoor Photos? Yes, Please!

Sure, winter in Minnesota can be chilly, but with a little prep, outdoor photos can still be cozy, fun, and beautiful. I always help my couples plan ahead—think warm coats, hand warmers, hot drinks, and keeping things relaxed and easy.

And that gorgeous golden hour light? In winter, it hits differently—softer, warmer, and so perfect for capturing those romantic glances and joyful laughs.

No matter your love story—whether you're marrying your high school sweetheart, your college crush, or the love of your life you met on a random Tuesday—I’m here to celebrate and support you.

I proudly work with all couples and am honored to photograph LGBTQIA+ weddings full of joy, pride, and pure magic.

Why Local Photography Matters

Minnesota winters come with their quirks (hello, surprise blizzards!), so it’s important to hire someone who knows how to work with it, not against it.

As a local Minnesota wedding photographer, I bring both creative vision and practical experience to the table. I know how to scout the best snowy locations, how to time photos with the softest light, and how to make sure everyone’s feeling warm, happy, and comfortable—no matter the weather.

Searching for a wedding photographer near me who understands winter weddings and celebrates all love stories? That’s me!

Let’s Make Some Winter Magic Together

A Minneapolis wedding in the winter is bold, beautiful, and totally unforgettable. From cozy indoor “I dos” to outdoor snow-kissed portraits, winter offers a romantic, storybook setting for couples who want something different. I love working with couples who embrace the season and aren’t afraid to have a little fun in the snow.

If you’re planning a winter wedding and looking for a Twin Cities wedding photographer who connects with your vision (and knows how to keep you warm between shots!), I’d love to hear from you. Let’s make some photo magic, tell your love story, and capture all the moments—from the silly to the sacred—that make your day uniquely yours.

rain on minnesota wedding day

Fresh Face Friday {18/52} Rainy wedding day? No tears necessary over any wedding day weather!

Keighla Anderson May 5, 2023

What happens when your wedding day weather includes rain?

Don't let a little precipitation put a damper on your day! With some planning and creativity, you can turn a rainy day into an opportunity for stunning wedding portraits and unforgettable memories.

In this blog post, we'll share tips from a Minnesota wedding photographer on how to deal with unexpected weather and even incorporate it into your photoshoot. So grab an umbrella, because there are no tears necessary on your rainy wedding day!

Planning for a rainy wedding day weather

When planning a wedding, the last thing you want to think about is bad weather. However, it's important to have a backup plan in case of rain or other unexpected conditions. Here are some tips for planning your rainy day wedding:

1. Choose an indoor venue: To avoid any problems caused by inclement weather, consider selecting an indoor location for your ceremony and reception.

2. Have a backup plan: Even if you've chosen an indoor venue, it's still wise to have a contingency plan in case of wild wedding day weather.

3. Invest in high-quality umbrellas: While they may not be the most glamorous accessory, umbrellas can be essential on a rainy day! Consider providing them as favors for your guests or incorporating them into your wedding photos.

4. Communicate with vendors: Make sure all of your vendors are aware of potential weather issues and have contingency plans in place. Especially your Minnesota wedding photographer and videographer.

By taking these steps ahead of time, you'll be able to relax and enjoy your special day regardless of what Mother Nature has in store!

Minnesota is known for its unpredictable weather, and it's common to encounter rain on a wedding day. Luckily, there are tips and tricks that can help you deal with this situation smoothly.

One important tip is to always have a backup plan in case of rain. Make sure your venue has an indoor area where the ceremony or reception can take place if needed. Come up with ceremony decor that will look beautiful in both indoor and outdoor spaces if that is valuable to you.

Another valuable piece of advice is to embrace the rain as part of your wedding day story. A talented Minnesota wedding photographer can capture beautiful moments in the rain, such as romantic kisses under an umbrella or playful splashing in puddles. There are many ways to show it is raining in your wedding day portraits without going into the rain, too.

It's also essential to communicate effectively with your vendors about any changes due to inclement weather. Your Minnesota wedding photographer should be familiar with working in different lighting conditions and able to adjust accordingly.

Ultimately, remember that while rainy weather may not be what you envisioned for your special day, it doesn't have to ruin it either! With some preparation and creativity, you can still have a stunning wedding despite the rain.

Creative ways to incorporate rain into your wedding portraits

Rain on your wedding day doesn't have to ruin your photos, in fact, it can create beautiful and unique portraits that you'll cherish forever. Here are some creative ways to incorporate rain into your wedding portraits.

Firstly, embrace the rain and use it in your photos. Bring colorful umbrellas or clear ones with beautiful patterns to add some fun and style to your pictures. You could even coordinate them with your wedding theme or color scheme.

Another great way to use the rain is by capturing reflections on wet surfaces like puddles or glossy floors. This adds depth and texture to a photo creating a stunning effect that will make you stand out from other couples.

If you're feeling adventurous, step outside in the rain for some candid shots of you walking hand-in-hand with your partner under an umbrella. These genuine moments will capture the emotion of the moment while also showcasing how much fun rainy days can be!

Don't forget about black-and-white photography! Rainy weather provides perfect lighting conditions for black-and-white shots which are timeless and elegant.

Incorporating rain into your wedding portraits may seem tricky at first but think outside of the box! Use this natural element creatively, stay open-minded, have fun and those photographs would speak volumes about how much love has conquered all odds against any possible weather challenges thrown at it!

How to still have fun despite the rain

Embracing the rain on your wedding day can actually turn out to be a lot of fun. Instead of dreading the wet weather, consider it as an opportunity for some unique and memorable experiences.

One idea is to set up an indoor game area where guests can play board games, cards or even giant Jenga during cocktail hour or reception downtime. A photobooth or karoke on the dance floor are other fun options. This will keep everyone entertained while staying warm and cozy inside.

Dancing in the rain can make for some unforgettable moments as well!

Remember that laughter is infectious; if you maintain a positive attitude throughout the day, there's no doubt that your happiness will spread among your loved ones, making even those unexpected showers feel like a joyful part of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Conclusion on wild wedding day weather

Your wedding day should be one of the happiest days of your life, even if it is a rainy one. By following these tips on how to handle and embrace the rain, you can still have a beautiful and memorable wedding experience despite the weather. Remember to plan ahead, communicate with your vendors, and stay positive throughout the day.

Having a Minnesota wedding photographer who is experienced in shooting weddings in all types of weather can also make all the difference in getting those stunning rainy day shots that will leave you breathless for years to come.

Documenting the day as it happens is my approach as a Minnesota wedding photographer. Setting expectations that your wedding photos will look like your wedding day is the best way to go into your day. Sunny, backlit golden hour photos are not going to happen when it's raining. That is totally ok! It's your wedding story!

Incorporating rain into your portraits may seem like an inconvenience at first but with some creativity and spontaneity from both you and your photographer, it can turn out to be something truly magical.

So go ahead, dance in the rain with your new spouse or take some romantic photos under an umbrella – because no matter what happens on this special day, nothing can dampen true love!
